DESCRIPTION:Compost Commons is a free bi-weekly program where people of all ages and backgrounds are invited to learn about composting together\, ask questions\, and share resources. Hosted by Karuna Compost\, the program emphasizes hands-on learning\, peer exchange\, and practical support for home and community composting. \nEach gathering offers a flexible mix of activities that respond to participants’ interests\, seasonal conditions\, and available materials. Attendees are welcome to drop in briefly or stay for the full session. \nRegister HERE \nBackyard composting & worm bin support \nOne-on-one and small-group guidance on compost systems\, troubleshooting\, and maintenance\, including vermicomposting and small-scale outdoor piles. \nCompost kits & materials exchange \nCollection\, distribution\, and occasional assembly of home composting kits and related materials (e.g.\, worm bins\, bedding\, tools\, educational handouts). Participants may also share surplus materials or resources. \nMicroscopy & soil life exploration \nInformal microscopy sessions allow participants to observe compost organisms and soil biology\, helping to make invisible processes visible and fostering curiosity and care for living systems. \nInformational displays & short talks \nPop-up displays\, demonstrations\, or short\, conversational presentations on composting methods\, soil health\, food waste reduction\, and related ecological topics. \nCommunity knowledge sharing \nSpace for participants to share experiences\, ask questions\, and learn from one another\, recognizing composting as both a practical skill and a community practice. \n
