Perma – Wha?
A Permablitz is a gathering of community members, coming together to transform a space using permaculture design. In the words of it’s founder, Permablitz Melbourne, the term permablitz is a contraction of permaculture and blitz, where a blitz simply means a focused effort to get something done. Permablitzes are always free, public events, with sharing of skills and food, where you get some exercise, meet new people and have a good time!
All are welcome to participate in Permablitz events! Don’t worry if you have no gardening experience or you know nothing about permaculture. Permablitzes are a great way to learn. There are always a variety of jobs whatever your experience or physical ability.
Who can host a permablitz?
In order to host your own permablitz you must be a registered member of the Permaculture Calgary Guild. We ask that you participate in at least 2 permablitzes prior to hosting your own, so that you:
- Get an idea of what to expect when leading a permablitz
- Learn the relevant skills
- Understand what is required to maintain your garden
- Contribute to the local permablitz network
- Build community!
Once you are part of the community, we’ll help organize and promote your own permablitz. You don’t need a lot of skills, just a commitment to give it a try.
