The City of Calgary’s FREE lights out party for Earth Hour

Earth Hour is a worldwide event to continue the conversation about how our energy use contributes to climate change and how we can reduce our impact.

Take part in Earth Hour this year by turning off your lights and electronics and attending Calgary Unplugged, an outdoor family event at St. Patrick’s Island, Confluence Plaza from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Walk or bike in the Earth Hour procession beginning at 8:30 p.m. Make a free button, bring your light, drum, costume, lantern or decorate your bike. You could win a $100 MEC prize!

— Bike light give-aways from East Village for those that ride to the event

— Tips and tricks to reducing your household water
— Foosball and ping pong
— Music and lights powered by bikes provided by Open Streets — Calgary

— Eco-scavenger hunt of St. Patrick’s Island with Calgary Parks
— Craft station (make your own non-toxic lip- balm) with Green Calgary
— Group bike ride at the end of Earth Hour hosted by Cyclepalooza

Getting to St. Patrick’s Island – Confluence Plaza

By foot: Use Memorial pathway or the George C. Bridge (formerly St. Patrick’s Bridge) from Riverwalk in East Village.
By transit: Get off at Bridgeland Station and follow Memorial pathway through the park to Confluence Plaza.
By vehicle: Use the 12th Street Bridge from Inglewood onto Zoo Road. NOTE: THERE IS NO ACCESS FROM MEMORIAL DRIVE TO ZOO ROAD DUE TO THE CALGARY ZOO FLOOD MITIGATION PROJECT.
